French poet René Daumal is quoted as saying:
It is still not enough for language to have clarity and content… it must also have a goal and an imperative. Otherwise from language we descend to chatter, from chatter to babble and from babble to confusion.
It’s a wise thought – and far be it from us to suggest that we can add to M. Daumal’s wisdom, but here at Ghostery we’ve learned that the flip side of that lesson is also true. Confusion can also arise when your goal and imperative are true, but you lack the clarity required to express it.
So with “CLARITY!” as our battle cry, we remodeled the policy. Some highlights:
- The Ghostery FAQ has been retooled to avoid anything that might sound contrary to the privacy documents.
- We tried to include as many examples as possible to give the policy some real-world context.
- We formatted things in a way we feel will answer many of the most frequent questions that came up as a result of the previous version.
Thanks to all our community members that took the time to send us their questions – once again, Ghostery’s user community demonstrates its enormous value. If there’s still something we can clarify, just ask Rose, our community manager.
