Don’t worry, it’s still there. Here’s a complete guide on how to make Ghosty visible again, if you’ve lost him.
Due to the heavy amount of support emails asking this question and the fact that there’s been a couple of new developments, We’ve made a post detailing exactly how to customize Firefox 4 and Ghostery to work in perfect, simple harmony. Here you go:
1) You can enable the “Add-on” bar in Firefox 4.
2) Click View>>Toolbars>>Customize… , find the Ghostery button in the available options, and drag him to any toolbar you have enabled.

Thanks, this was very helpful, was missing Ghosty…this tool is incredible !
What’s the difference between Ghosty and the Firefox 4 option of telling websites I don’t want to be tracked (Pref Advanced General on the mac)?
The difference, for the time being, is that by using the header option in Firefox 4, you are leaving it up to the companies to honor the signal that you would not like to have data collected on you on that site. So far, few companies have decided to do so. Ghostery will allow you to choose and not rely on any signals.
I followed the Round 2 instructions, and still do not have the bubble displayed. Any further suggestions?
Thank you,
Michael Sirchis
Ah, the bubble is a separate feature, Michael. In order to activate and adjust the purple bubble, you can go to Tools>Ghostery>Manage Ghostery Options>”Show Alert Bubble.” From there, you can adjust how long it pops up for, if it pops up at all, and where it resides. After this, you’ll see it shown on every page you go to if it’s enabled and has 3PEs (3rd Party Page Elements).
I still have the old ghosty. But I wanted the new ghosty as a button, so I pulled the new ghosty from the customize box into the bottom.
Well, now I have old ghosty sitting there, all pale and gray, in the right hand corner, and new ghosty a bit more to the left.
Old ghosty shows me in words (like “4 of 4″) while new ghosty shows me a number in a square box (like “4″).
How do I get rid of ole pale ghosty while keeping fresh and new blue ghosty?
I think this does the trick. But the G icon is so tiny, both the old and the new, that I may have simply missed it before.
Thank you.
