Ghostery for Firefox v 2.5.3

A brand-spanking-new version of Ghostery for Firefox is here – and optimized specifically for Firefox 4.

We talked before about the new “add-on bar”, which replaces the old status bar in Firefox, and how it was hidden by default. This caused some folks to wonder where Ghosty had gone, and far be it from us to deny our little blue guy his place in the spotlight. Now you can customize your toolbars to let Ghosty live wherever you want.

Just click View>>Toolbars>>Customize… , find the Ghostery button in the available options, and drag him to any toolbar you have enabled.

I placed Ghosty in the navigation bar, and he happily tells me how many invisible bits he’s found on the page. Clicking on the button displays the menu like always.

We hope you enjoy surfing a safer, more transparent web with Ghostery and Firefox 4. If you haven’t already, please stop by our Mozilla add-on gallery page and give us a rating – we’d love to hear from you and why you like using Ghostery.

Happy Browsing,

Andy K

Nice job on the latest version, and for providing a toolbar button. It is running flawlessly for me in Firefox 4. For readers who miss the old status bar, there is an addon called Status-4-Evar that will restore the old status bar behavior (complete with Ghosty).

Very good job, keep it up, Ghostery is one of the most downloaded addons and it’s likely to continue. Good luck for updates.

What about Aurora 8.0a2? Does it work in this version?

Should work! Would welcome feedback sent to support at Ghostery dot com.

    Hi, folks,

Not finding a bug-reporting system, so posting here: Ghostery is making a mess of my Firefox 5.0.1. Whenever I click on something that wants to pop up a new window (e.g. my Pinboard bookmarklet or a blog comment window), Firefox beachballs and eventually quits responding.

Firefox 5.0.1/Mac OS 10.6.8. If you need a more detailed rundown of my Firefox install, feel free to email me. Hope this gets fixed quick — I miss my ghost!

Something is slowing down my browsing a lot. Is Ghostery doing this?
